Why choose Namestorm for your naming project?

For 20 years, we’ve been creating names for brands, products and companies. You can find an overview in our references. And why else is it worth getting in touch with us? Here are ten good reasons.

A good name rarely happens by chance. Creativity plays a major role, but it also takes a clear structure to turn many ideas into the right name. That’s why we work with our Namestorm® Method: a naming process that sparks creative thinking while addressing typical pitfalls such as legal obstacles early on.

The Namestorm Method also prevents endless alignment loops and the dangerous compromise of settling for a name everyone can live with, but no one is truly excited about.

In five clear steps, we guide naming projects towards the right result, avoid unnecessary detours and develop names that work on every level: legally, linguistically and emotionally.

     </details>

We’ve been working in naming for many years, and at some point we wanted to share what we had learned. That’s how our book Strong Names came about.

It brings together our entire “name-how” in a compact format: no empty phrases, no endless theory, but above all practical experience. Clearly explained for anyone who wants to dive deeper into naming or even develop names themselves.

We’re especially pleased that the book is now used by agencies, companies and universities. And it has helped us show one thing very clearly: professional naming is not a random creative exercise, but a process that can be structured and managed.

     </details>

There is no such thing as a “Master of Naming & Branding” – and no formal vocational training for naming either. So we all found our way into naming via different routes, through alternative degree programmes, professional training and hands-on experience.
We are specialists and generalists at the same time, because we work across a wide range of industries. Our “naming lens” is razor-sharp: where others may struggle to see the wood for the trees, we quickly recognise why a naming process has stalled, where obstacles are still hiding and where untapped potential lies.
We celebrate our differences. Our varied backgrounds – academics and career changers, hobby artists, parents, nature lovers and tech nerds – give us different perspectives on every project. What unites us is the ambition to find the best possible solution for every naming challenge.

     </details>

Names and everything that comes with them, language, letters, words and creative techniques, fascinate us both professionally and personally. The people behind Namestorm follow naming news and major rebrands with genuine interest, discuss new film titles and product names, celebrate clever wordplay and great copy, and challenge just about anyone to a game of Scrabble.
Whether we’re attending poetry slams in our spare time or teaching creative techniques on the side, one thing is clear: we simply love language.
And even in our day-to-day work, new words keep emerging. “verelsen” or “Gnömb”, for example. Never heard of them? We’ll reveal the meaning on request …

     </details>

Yes, we’re fairly specialised, because everything we do revolves around names. From the first idea to meticulous checks and decision-making support, we guide you through every stage and every question in the naming process. And if needed, we make sure your new name is ready to travel the world.
Did you know that naming projects often fail not because there are too few ideas, but because the process itself is handled the wrong way?
One of our key success factors is that we keep the final decision in mind from the very beginning. Because if naming isn’t approached with the end in mind, even the most wonderful names won’t get you very far.

     </details>

Fancy offices in Berlin, Barcelona or Bangkok? Sounds nice. But we’d rather invest your budget in strong ideas.

Our office is wherever good names and smart solutions happen: in online workshops or remotely from anywhere. Namers Mark Leiblein and Marcel Hiller regularly travel across Europe in Remote Extreme mode, while other team members are based in Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Lower Bavaria.

We work digitally, connected and with partner agencies around the world. And if you prefer to meet in person, of course we can do that too: at your office or wherever works best.

     </details>

Naming is constantly evolving with new developments, trends and technologies. We want to stay on top of what’s happening and keep learning, whether it’s workshop facilitation or producing educational videos. We embrace change and stay in motion. That’s especially true for major shifts such as AI, which motivates us to refine our processes and respond to changing requirements with smarter concepts.
“The world doesn’t stand still. Questioning processes and trying new things is part of our DNA. With creative courage, we keep rethinking how naming is done and bring fresh impulses to our clients’ industries,” says Namestorm founder Mark Leiblein.

     </details>

From complex brand architecture and claims to renaming, our services cover the full spectrum of naming and offer the right solution for every naming challenge.

And then there’s a special discipline Namestorm is particularly known for: title development for films and series. The ability to tell an entire story in just a few words. From Keinohrhasen to Tatort, from Hollywood to streaming, Namestorm has contributed creatively to hundreds of title projects.

Our experience in arts and entertainment also feeds directly into our name development for companies in the business world.

     </details>

Back in 2010, we launched NameRobot, the first “professional” naming generator as a SaaS tool. That was long before AI became a mainstream topic. The idea quickly made waves in the start-up press, and one competitor even felt compelled to warn against “using naming generators like these”.
For all our enthusiasm for innovation, technology remains a tool for us, not a substitute for creative minds, experience and human judgement. After all, even the smartest tool is useless if you don’t know how to use it properly.
More and more companies approach us openly and say: “We’ve already tried ChatGPT, but nothing really worked.” We actually welcome that. If teams have already explored ideas themselves, we can build on that work straight away.
And for dedicated AI users and other name seekers, we’ve even developed a specialised service: our AI Name Check.

     </details>

A strong name is essentially a small all-rounder. It has to pass the practical test: work as a logo, sound good on the phone and be easy to type in an email address. At the same time, it should be distinctive, legally secure and still feel relevant years from now.
But what does a name need to do to create the desired effect for a brand, product or company? A name that everyone “likes” straight away is often just the lowest common denominator, and therefore the wrong goal.
So what does an “emotional” name actually mean? What makes a name feel “innovative”? We dig deeper until we have identified what really makes the project distinctive.

     </details>
